Educational Program: "Backyard Ponds: Maintaining Healthy Habitats"

Join the Geauga and Portage Soil and Water Conservation Districts for an informative and FREE pond program on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 6:00-8:30 pm at Swine Creek Lodge, 16004 Hayes Road in Middlefield Township. Now is your chance to learn more about aquatic plant identification and management, potential impacts of harmful algal blooms, fish stocking, and managing farm and backyard ponds. Featured speakers include pond experts William Lynch, Aquatic Ecosystems Specialist, OSU Extension and Steve Fender, Fender's Fish Hatchery. They will provide important information and answers to your pond questions! Registration is required due to limited seating, so please call (440)834-1122 to register by May 6th. Noise Pollution & Regulation

On February 5, 2011, the Russell Board of Trustees held a Special Meeting on Noise Pollution & Regulation. The documents discussed at that meeting are now available online. The two resolutions are DRAFTS. The Trustees welcome comments on the documents.

Russell Township News Available by E-mail

One goal of the Russell Township Board of Trustees is to improve communication with Russell residents. We hope you will take advantage of this new service.

Information will now be distributed by e-mail. Two newsletter subscriptions are available. One newsletter will be distributed at regular intervals and will include news items relevant to the regular activities of the Township.

The second newsletter will be sent out when the need arises for dissemination of time sensitive, critical information. This newsletter may report road closures or update residents on local crises.

Oil & Gas Well Drilling Information

If you are approached by an oil drilling company asking to drill an oil or gas well on your property, Zoning Inspector, Ric Machnics recommends you become well informed before signing a lease. It is critical that the lease language protects your interests. For information on oil and gas wells, questions you should ask and lease language, you can contact the Zoning Office at 440-338-5811 and Geauga Soil & Water Conservation District at 440-834-1122.
